‘Baba Vanga’ Predicts Mega Tsunami in Japan in July 2025

Ryo Tatsuki, often referred to as ‘Baba Vanga’ has issued a chilling prediction: a mega tsunami hitting Japan in July of 2025. Famous for some of her previous predictions which anticipated the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake, Tatsuki’s most recent vision paints the ocean of South Japan “boiling” and claims the explosion of an undersea volcano causing a gigantic tsunami. This prediction has revived debates regarding Japan’s susceptibility to earthquake disasters, particularly in light of the country’s own scientific reports predicting a major earthquake in the near future.​

Baba Vanga’s Prediction:

Ryo Tatsuki, a retired manga artist, came into the limelight for her 1999 book The Future I Saw, which reported on dreams that seemed to foretell actual events in the world. Her most recent vision predicts a devastating tsunami affecting not just Japan but also neighboring nations such as Taiwan, Indonesia, and the Philippines. She reports the ocean “boiling” off the coast of Japan, which has been interpreted as portents of an underwater volcanic eruption that can cause widespread destruction.

Scientific Approach to Seismic Risks

Although Baba Vanga’s prophecies are not based on scientific approach, they align with Japan’s own seismic risk evaluation. The government of Japan has cautioned an 80% probability of a magnitude 8 to 9 earthquake in the Nankai Trough in the next 30 years. Such a disaster could claim as many as 300,000 lives and lead to around $1.8 trillion in economic losses. The Nankai Trough, a 900 km long seabed zone that is seismically active, has been the site of powerful earthquakes in the past.​

Prediction and preparedness

Japan’s position on the Pacific “Ring of Fire” makes it highly vulnerable to seismic activity. Although Baba Vanga predictions are not scientifically verified, they emphasize the need for disaster preparedness. Japan has spent a great deal of money on earthquake-proof buildings, early warning systems, and public education to reduce the effects of such disasters. The convergence of prophetic and scientific evaluation is a reminder of the constant threat and the necessity of caution.

Baba Vanga’s prediction of a mega tsunami in July 2025 has stirred public interest, mixing mysticism with tangible fears. Although her visions are not based on science, they fit into Japan’s recognized seismic weaknesses. This convergence emphasizes the need for ongoing investment in disaster readiness and the merit of listening to both scientific and cultural stories in recognizing and averting possible dangers.
