Plane carrying 275 passengers catches fire while landing in Dubai

TTO - On the afternoon of August 3, an Emirates flight from India encountered an accident and had to land with its tail down at Dubai International Airport.

Images of the incident flooding social media showed a large plume of black smoke rising from the tail of the plane.

The Dubai government's Twitter account confirmed the accident.

According to initial information, no passengers on the flight were injured. All were safely evacuated from the plane.

According to AFP news agency, after the incident, all flights at Dubai International Airport were temporarily suspended.

Reuters news agency said the crashed plane was a Boeing 777-300 A6-EMW, departing from Thiruvananthapuram city in Kerala state, India.

Emirates said there were a total of 275 passengers on board.

The cause of the crash is still unknown. Boeing said it is monitoring the incident and will work with Emirates to determine the cause of the accident.
